Connections

A connection is another Furbol user you’re linked to. Connections are how the network of people around you is built — they’re what makes invitations meaningful, what unlocks your ability to play, and what shapes who sees you in search.

Where connections come from

Connections can form in two ways:

1. Mutual contacts (from your phone book)

If you have someone’s phone number and they have yours, Furbol treats you as connected automatically. This is the most common way connections form: you don’t have to do anything beyond giving Furbol permission to look at your contacts.

  • It’s mutual by definition — both sides need to have the other’s number.
  • You can turn this off by disabling “allow my contacts to search me” in your profile settings.

2. In-app connection requests

If you don’t have each other’s phone numbers, someone can add you directly in the app. The act of adding creates the connection. This is the explicit path — useful when you meet someone at a game and want to link up without swapping numbers.

Why connections matter

  • They unlock playing. Until you reach a minimum number of connections, Furbol holds back some of its features. See Playing Requirements.
  • They shape invitations. “Friends” in invitation notifications means connections — so games from people you’re connected with look different from games from strangers.
  • They shape discovery. Who you’re connected to influences who the app shows you, and who sees you.

Your connections are private

Furbol doesn’t publish your connection list to other players. What other people see is whether they, specifically, are connected to you — not everyone else you know.
