Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-22
This policy explains what Furbol collects, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to the Furbol mobile apps, this website, and any Furbol-hosted service.
Our two principles
When it comes to your data, Furbol works on two rules:
- We don't sell ads against you. Your data isn't used for ad targeting or commercial profiling.
- We store what we need and no more. If Furbol doesn't need a piece of data to run the service, we don't keep it.
Who we are
Furbol is operated by FURBOL LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 14175429. Our registered office is at 20-22 Wenlock Road, London, England, N1 7GU.
For the purposes of EU and UK data protection law, FURBOL LTD is the data controller for your information — the entity that decides how and why your data is processed. Questions about your data go to privacy@furbol.app.
Legal basis for processing
We process most of your data on the basis of our legitimate interests — delivering the service you signed up for and keeping it safe from fraud and abuse. Where those interests would be overridden by your fundamental rights, we don't process.
Some processing happens only with your explicit consent — location access and contact sync are the clearest cases. You can change your mind at any time from the app's settings.
What we collect
The data Furbol collects falls into a few buckets. Here's each one, plainly:
Your phone number
Your phone number is how Furbol knows it's you. It's the unique identifier for your account and the thing people you already know can use to find you on the service.
Your profile
Your nickname and profile photo are public on Furbol — anyone you play with can see them. We don't need your real name, and many people use nicknames.
The people who already have you saved in their phone contacts see you under the name they saved, not your Furbol nickname. See Phone contacts in the guide for how this works.
Your contacts
When you grant access, Furbol reads your phone contacts to tell you which of them are already on Furbol and to let you invite the rest. Contact sync is always opt-in and you can revoke it from your settings at any time.
We keep an up-to-date copy of your synced contacts on our servers so we can notify you when a saved contact joins Furbol.
Your location
When you grant access, Furbol uses your location to show you football games near you and to order hosts and venues by distance. Location access is opt-in. If you decline, you can still use Furbol by choosing a city manually.
Your activity on Furbol
This includes games you book, host, confirm, or rate; in-app messages you send and reactions you receive; your wallet balance, top-ups, and cash-outs; and everything else generated as you use the service.
In-app messages live on Furbol's servers so they reach the recipient even if you're offline. They're retained while your account exists. Messages cannot be edited or deleted once sent — see Messages in the guide for how that's handled from the user side.
Technical data
To keep the service safe we collect metadata like your IP address, device type, app version, and a short history of sign-in events. This is used to prevent fraud, spam, and abuse — not to profile you. We keep this data only for as long as we need it to spot and stop abuse.
How we use your information
We use the data above to:
- Run the service — finding games, booking, hosting, payments, messages, notifications.
- Keep it safe — preventing spam, scams, impersonation, and abuse.
- Power cross-device features — so when you install Furbol on a new phone, your bookings, wallet, friends, and settings are there. See Signing in on a new phone for the user-facing version of this.
- Improve the experience — for example, the relations you see on the game line and the personalization in paint-by-metric are built from your own activity, not from third-party sources.
- Meet our legal obligations.
We don't use your data to show you ads. We don't sell it. We don't share it for marketing.
Payments
Furbol doesn't handle your card directly. Our payment provider, Stripe, does. When you top up, pay for a game, or cash out, your card details go straight to Stripe's servers — they never touch Furbol's. We receive a token back that we can use for future charges; the token can't be reversed into a card number. Stripe's own privacy notice covers what they do with that data.
You can clear your stored payment information at any time from the app. See The wallet for how payments and cash-outs work from the user side.
Because card details never reach us, disputed payments are handled by Stripe and the cardholder's bank. Furbol can't process chargebacks or refunds on card data we never saw.
Who we share your data with
Your data is shared only with:
- Other Furbol users, when you take actions visible to them — booking into their game, hosting a game they join, messaging them, rating them. See Profile privacy in the guide for exactly who sees what.
- Service providers that process data on Furbol's behalf — hosting, payments, push notifications, abuse detection. They act as processors under contract and cannot use your data for their own purposes. Where a provider is based outside the EEA or the UK, transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
- Law enforcement, only when legally required and only in response to a valid court order.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored in data centers located in Germany. We work with infrastructure providers who process data on Furbol's behalf under contract — they cannot use your data for their own purposes.
We apply standard security measures, including encryption of traffic in transit and access controls on stored data.
Retention
We keep your personal data only for as long as it's needed to run the service. Technical data like sign-in logs is kept only for as long as we need it to prevent fraud and abuse. Account content is kept for as long as your account exists.
When you delete your account, all content linked to it is removed (see below).
Your rights
Wherever you live, you have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, in a portable format.
- Correct data that's inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your data.
- Restrict or object to specific types of processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (location, contacts).
- Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority if you think we haven't handled your data correctly.
Most of these rights you can exercise directly from the app — your settings contain controls for your data, contact sync, location permission, and account deletion. For anything else, write to privacy@furbol.app.
Deleting your account
You can delete your Furbol account at any time from the app: open Edit account, then choose Delete. Deletion removes your profile, messages, wallet history, ratings, and every other piece of data tied to your account. Deletion is confirmed from your device and cannot be undone.
If you can't access the app, you can also request deletion by email. See Delete your Furbol account for the full procedure, what gets removed, and what (minimal) data may be retained for legal reasons.
Children
Furbol is not intended for users below the minimum age required by law in your country to consent to the processing of their personal data. We do not knowingly collect information from users below that threshold.
Cookies and similar technologies
See the Cookie Notice for details on what cookies we use on this website and in our emails, and how to control them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll reflect changes with a new "last updated" date at the top, and material changes will be announced in the app and/or by email before they take effect.
